We are thrilled to introduce you to our new coordinator for our Survivors of First Responder Suicide program.

Stephanie Cunningham recently joined the Task Force with the heart to support those who have experienced the death of a family member to suicide. In January 2015, her fiancé, Paramedic Ryan Burger with A/TCEMS, took his own life after 10 years in EMS. Up until Ryan’s death, she volunteered as an EMT with a Travis County ESD but her focus has shifted to building a better way for departments to support family members while their loved ones are in service and provide a tribe of survivors to connect to in the event of the death by suicide of a member of a public safety organization. She is the daughter of a retired Army pilot and sister to brothers who have also served. She still lives in Austin where she works for a mental health policy institute.
